The Man Effect

Some Things Men Should Think About Before Doing Online Dating.

In a day and age where online dating is running rampant similar to the black plague in the fourteenth century, I think it is important for men to take a deep breath and cognitively ponder what is going on and if they sincerely want to join in on the chaos.

The following things listed I simply wanted men to think about before the trek of online dating was ensued upon.

1) The starting point for meeting someone online vs. in person is significantly different.

Recently on one of my online profiles, I stated the following "Just because I have a dick doesn't mean I am one."  The reasoning behind scribing that for the world was this. It has been my experience that at the beginning of any interaction with a woman online they assume that I am a "dick."  Apparently, the majority of men that are outspoken online are from the bottom of the barrel and to be honest they make it difficult for the guys who are genuinely looking for something more than sex. So if you want to try and meet people online for a stable relationship, chances are you are creating more work for yourself.

Go to a party at a friends house or coffee shop and commune with people in person.

2) Interacting with people online is too easy.

As a working introverted professional, I completely understand that it is hard to find people out of your immediate surrounds without some serious leg work. Online dating has been a great tool for many to find someone to love and be loved by and I recognize that, but the other side of that is it can train you to not go out and meet new people. It creates a form of passivity that disables the desire to go out into the world and take risks that could potentially benefit you as a human being. I am a huge fan of advocating for men to take steps to fight passivity. I have continued to try and ask people out in person and get set up by friends so that I do not become passive while using online dating.

3) There is a constant state of distrust that is present.

Due to the day and age we live in ax murderers seem to be around every corner. So the level of distrust that is encountered on the world wide web should be expected. It is almost like going door to door to sell vacuums. No-one trusts you initially, and you have to work hard to get them to believe you are not there to rape and pillage them literally and financially.

So if you decide to be an online dater realize you have an epic uphill trek when it comes to trust.

Cheers,

Timothy
