"I would choose the word rock.  A rock is firm.  When it is formed, it is not easily shaped by its surrounding elements. Like a man, a rock can be moved, broken, and turned.  They also listen, remain strong, endure and last.  A rock at a river bottom stands against the current, while also getting all its rough jagged edges smoothed out."
